Fiji's second most popular tourism region is the Coral Coast which stretches along the southern side of the main island of Viti Levu from Natadola Beach to Pacific Harbour. Coral Coast Hotels Overview

The Coral Coast comprises two distinct halves - the dry coast between Nadi and Sigatoka with lots of sunshine and the tropical rainforest coast between Sigatoka and Suva which is more rugged with mountains covered in dense tropical rainforest, more cloud cover and higher rainfall (mostly in the afternoons). A dozen or so large resorts are spread along the coast, mostly built during the formative years of tourism between the 1970s and 1980, and offer good value package holidays to a predominantly Australian market with reasonable beaches but plenty of activities, both at and around the resort.

There's plenty of accommodation along the Coral Coast with a decent mix of large hotels aimed mostly at families and smaller more affordale beach resorts for couples and budget holiday-makers. Hotels are sporadically located along the coast mostly in a very rural setting often beside a local Fijian village from where hotel workers are employed. The exception is at at Korotogo Beach, just outside Sigatoka Town where a small collection of motels and restaurants can be found along what has been coined the Sunset Strip.

Coral Coast Travel Information

Access to the Coral Coast is by road only. Local buses are extremely cheap and run hourly between Nadi and Suva along the Queens Highway passing along the Coral Coast and stopping at hotels along the way as well as at Pacific Harbour. A taxi or private van costs around $150 from Nadi Airport.
