Cruises in New Caledonia
Day Cruises in New Caledonia
There are two good bases for enjoying day cruises to offshore islands. Noumea harbour has plenty of charter boats for hire to explore the lagoon and islands or you can join one of several day cruises to departing daily. Tenia Island makes a great day out with a small group of tourists, visiting the small coral island for several hours with snorkelling and the chance to spot dolphins along the way. A larger day cruise ship visits Amedee Island with its famous lighthouse and here you can enjoy glass bottom boat rides around the reef..
Another great day cruise is on the Isle of Pines
where the locals have retained their traditions of sailing outrigger canoes. You can cruise the inner lagoon of Upi Bay on such or cruise, or take a speedboat to the uninhabited Nokanhui atoll.
Overnight Cruises
There are no overnight cruises originating from Noumea although several large ship cruises call in to Noumea from Australia on a fairly regular basis.
