Independent review for Amunuca Island Resort in the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji
Amunuca Island Resort Fiji was an affordable boutique resort with with versatile accommodation options for families and located alongside a pretty beach in the outer Mamanuca Islands. The resort closed down in 2010. The bures look visually attractive but major design errors and bankruptcy have caused what was a promising resort to become something of a disappointment. Despite not reaching the intended deluxe market, prices are very competitive and this makes it a decent option for families on a budget and prepared to put up with the incomplete and sometimes dishevelled feel.

Hotel Amenities
The resort is raised twenty or so metres above the beach offering lovely views over the lagoon where sea birds and locals fish for small bait fish and there's excellent offshore snorkelling, lots of activities, hiking trails and above all else, a secluded holiday feel.
There's a large terrace fronting the 2 restaurants - one for couples and one for families, as well as the sunset bar which overlooks the infinity family pool with water slide. There's a good kids club with playground, a tennis court and a traditional style spa and gym set at the back of the property abutting the hillside. Perched on a small hill is the wooden wedding chapel with ocean views (seats around 40 guests). The hills surrounding the resort offer good walking tracks with stunning views of the surrounding islands.
